Stories From The Road 2002

January, 2002

Hey,

The year started out with a few acoustic performances. I stumbled upon a local venue The East End Ensemble Brooklyn, NY that I felt was a great place to perform some 'unplugged' shows. I performed there solo and had a chance to try out some new material . It's so nice to have such a space. I have been waiting a long time to have a live music venue in my area and this is just the spot.

We played our first 'band' show as an acoustic performance back at the East End Ensemble in Brooklyn, NY this was also Phil Nix's birthday so it was a double celebration. ESB consisted of myself, Bryan, Phil, and Jenna Malizia who was an original member of the band and has appeared on previous CD's. Everyone in the neighborhood came and we had a blast.

The next night found ourselves back at our favorite NYC venue, The Bottom Line. We originally were asked to open for Savoy Brown but they bailed out of the show which left the club in a jam. They moved us up to headliners and got two opening acts for us. The night was great. I think it ended up being a better night the way it ended up. The weather was a little bad, which didn't help the turn out, but the fans that did come down found a slightly revised ESB line-up. Chris Carter has decided that he would rather concentrate on composing and has left the band. Also, Mason was not available for that show so that night ESB consisted of myself, Bryan, Phil, and Jenna .We played 'unplugged' that night. It was a fresh way to play these songs and I think the audience really enjoyed it.

Hello,

We were asked to open for Dave Mason (Traffic) at a new club in Farmingdale, NY called Dave Glicker's Downtown. This time we were all there (including Mason) and we were full band electric. The place was packed and the show went really well. The crowd was a great rock and roll crowd and enjoyed our set. I hope that we get the opportunity to play there again and maybe play with Dave Mson again as well.

Hey there,

I started a singer's-in-the-round series at East End Ensemble called "Songwriters In The City". I invited some of my fellow NYC song-smiths to sit in with me for a night of original music. The four part series was a tremendous success. Having performers like Jim Malone, Kevin Merritt, Kathleen Premble and Barbara Brousal (my sister) made the nights even more special. I hope to be able to continue doing this type of evening. It's a great way to introduce people to some great writers.

Hey,

Once again we were called to set up the night for a legendary artist at Dave Glicker's Downtown. We opened for Dave Davies (The Kinks) and had a rockin' good time! I had been a big Kinks fan growing up and it was such a thrill to hear those great songs again.

Hello,

Performing at Dave Glicker's Downtown has now become a regular thing for us. The place is great, the people are friendly and the vibe is very supportive. Dave runs a music lover's club and we love playing there. We did a little acoustic thing with me, Phil and Jenna. It was a nice set. Great harmonies and some cool renditions of some of our rockin' favorites. One of the best things about the whole night is that we now are officially sponsored by The Glenlivet - The best single-malt scotch in the world! We are very pleased to have made this connection. Look for future events to include this partnership. Remember to always drink responsibly.

More to come...

P.S. We are in studio mode right now. We will be performing regionally but the focus is on recording the new album!
