Jack And Jill

Bottle-cap Jack is back with a new coat of paint.
He was a bad mother now he claims that he's a saint.
But Strawberry Jill, she knows the deal about this clown.
She says, last time we went up that hill we came tumbling down.

But Jack's a stubborn guy.
As he looks her in the eye,
He says Jill, come on, give me one more try, yeah.

It's fate, and you can't fight fate.
It's fate, and you can't fight fate.

Bottle-cap Jack buys her flowers nicely arranged.
He says, come on Jill let me show you how I've changed.
Strawberry Jill fights the thrill and hides her smile.
Sure he's sweet, but that will only last a short while.

But Jack, he's got a plan.
As he takes her by the hand,
He says, Jill you know I'm your man, yeah.

It's fate, and you can't fight fate.
It's fate, and you can't fight fate.

Bottle-cap Jack says, Jill, I swear my horizons are now broader
Then to head down to the well each night to fill my pail with fire-water.
Strawberry Jill, as the night stood still says, my poor, sweet, Jack.
I should have my head examined to want to take you back.
Yeah.

Bottle-cap Jack brakes his back and pulls some strings.
Trades in his car for a diamond engagement ring.
Strawberry Jill's off the pill and thinking about names.
Another high hurdle true love overcame.

Now Jack's in love with Jill.
They got a house up on the hill.
And there ain't no way they're coming down, yeah.

It's fate, and you can't fight fate.
It's fate, and you can't fight fate.
