Burning Bridges

I didn't come here to ask for your pity.
I ain't looking for no hand out.
But what I got baby, ain't pretty;
One foot out the door and one in my mouth.

I've made a habit out of begging forgiveness.
I know my word's no good with you.
But here I stand with God as my witness,
May lightning strike me down if what I say ain't true.

Save me.
This flood of tears has made my engines stall.
Help me.
Put out your tender net and catch my fall.
Love me.
Doesn't that stand for anything or have I gone and burned that bridge.

I didn't come here to call in a favor.
'Cause I would only be wasting my breath.
Too many times can cut like a razor.
You can't feel the wounds until you're bleeding to death.

I know my ways have worn out my welcome.
My disregard has left you battered and blue.
The times I tried were never and seldom.
But I never realized what I was doing to you.

Save me.
This flood of tears has made my engines stall.
Help me.
Put out your tender net and catch my fall.
Love me.
Doesn't that stand for anything or have I gone and burned that bridge.

You say the bough's about to break
As I take the vow;
this is my last and final mistake I make.
Is it too late or will you wait
before you bring down the heavy hands of fate.
I brought the rain and caused the pain
And again I got nobody left but myself to blame.
The names have changed
But the story remains the same.
I'm sorry.

I pray you say I haven't burned that bridge.
